Branch History
Library service to Kennewick residents began
"officially" on January 1, 1949. Housed temporarily in City Hall, the
library celebrated it's grand opening in the remodeled Bank of Commerce
building in August of 1949. In 1954 a garage was added to house the
bookmobile.
After a successful bond election for a new
building, the library opened in it's current location on July 18, 1964.
The Keewaydin Park Branch was remodeled in
2000 after the opening of the new Kennewick branch on Union Street.
Keewaydin Park houses the Neva Bequette
Service Center which includes the Administrative and Technical Services
departments.
Keewaydin Branch (the former Kennewick
Branch) opened on July 18, 1964.
